Crimson TidBit – And the Best Source of Milk is…
As you know there is quite a debate about milk.
Should you drink it raw? Homogenized? Homogenized and Pasturized? Just Pasturized? Should I buy it raw and heat it up myself at home? Should I drink milk at all? I mean humans are the only ones that drink milk from another species. These are a few questions that come to mind.
My personal belief is that no one can state emphatically what the best source of milk is for you…well at least not without a caveat or two. The type, source and disposition of milk you might choose is something that is a highly personal decision.
From my reading, raw milk sure seems to have numerous benefits.

There are risks to drinking raw milk. For example, everyone knows there are bacteria in milk. Some bacteria are friendly. The trouble enters when a cow has an infected teet or a cow defecates (which can be a messy, splattery sort of event), such that the teets end up with feces on them and when they aren’t cleaned prior to milking, the milk can end up being infected with such little nasties as e. coli.
Not very appetizing is it?
Of course, if you are milking your own cow, you can control these variables and have little worry of such a problem.
The problem with heating milk is that you destroy the live enzymes that make milk healthful and easily digestible and perhaps assimilable.
My wife grew up in a relatively rural setting where they would get fresh milk and heat/boil it for five minutes or so. The idea here being that they killed the bad stuff leaving most of the good healthful stuff.
Then there are those that swear by the healthful benefits that they get from drinking raw milk and they are fully aware of the risks of drinking it that way. They’ve taken the responsibility to get the best milk they can and they would be devastated if they couldn’t have that milk.
I am all for freedom and liberty for people to choose. I am also all for making information available to people so they can be informed about their choices, that’s one reason I am a publisher.
If you want to read some more, not just about the benefits of raw milk, here are two links, the first being an article, the second being a product that I have found to be of exceptional value…

The above book, “The Key to Ultimate Health” is an outstanding resource for anyone. “The Key” includes helpful information on raw milk, but it is literally cram packed with useful health information. Any one paragraph in this book is potentially life changing…which is why I offer it often.
Finally, if I were to make an emphatic statement, I’d say the most healthful milk for a human to drink would be raw USDA certified organic goat milk (which I haven’t seen yet) that has no bad bacteria. Of course, the latter part, “no bad bacteria” is the tough part. Who can know for sure? Anyway, I’ve had some raw milk and it did well for me, but I don’t make it a part of my regular diet.
Raw goat cheese aged over 60 days, on the other hand, is a regular and helpful part of my diet. But that could be another story.
All the best of health to you,
