America, America

How to Avoid the Pitfalls  ($12.95, digital version)

Why was America, America: How to Avoid the Pitfalls written? Because, the reality is that many lifelong Americans don’t know the important and, in some cases, somewhat hidden and perhaps nearly secret information about the way financial things really work in modern day America.

In America, America, we aim to open your eyes to the way financial life in America works. Thus, a significant part of this book focuses on credit related issues.

America, America also focuses on how to get out of trouble if you find yourself facing an uncertain financial future.

Who is this book intended for?  For starters, young adults in high school and collegiates are not taught this information. As we all know, getting started in life and 'flying blind' just don't go well together.

This is information you definitely want your child to know very well prior to "leaving the nest".

Once we started getting feedback about America, America, we were advised that the material was actually much needed by nearly every American.

Why? Because just like with the young adults today, most Americans already out of College weren't taught it in school either. The material contained within America, America amounts to the 'brass tacks' of everyday life in America that should be understood for maximum success and minimum hassle.

What subjects are covered? Subjects dealt with include: debt, credit cards, leasing an apartment, buying a home, evaluating insurance, bankruptcy and fixing credit (if you have already damaged it).

How much will this book help me if I have already damaged my credit?  In America, America, Dr. Williamson lays out the strategy that works and the resource that will provide all the education necessary to roll up your sleeves and "make it happen".

There are plenty of folks claiming that if you purchase their resource (book, ebook, report, etc.) you can fix your credit in a very short time. Neither the author nor we (the publishers) have seen any such thing bear out in reality.

Truth is, fixing credit isn't an overnight process. If it took a while to damage it, you will have some work and waiting to do to get your credit restored. But it most certainly is possible. If the author could do it given his situation, I believe you can do so too.

Can I find some of this information elsewhere?  Sure, for a price and for a lot of time or through otherwise avoidable credit damaging experiences.  The information you will learn in America, America can only be gained through the school of hard knocks or by otherwise expending a great deal of time researching these topics. Thus, it is estimated that you will have saved yourself 200 plus hours of time by reading this book and referring to the cited resources for up-to-date information and assistance.  How much is your time worth?

Plus you get the experience and knowledge of someone who went through it before you and who is an excellent educator.

It is our hope that reading America, America: How to Avoid the Pitfalls will clarify how life works in this great land we call home.

About The Author

When I was an undergraduate student at Fresno State University, I was lured into the trap of easy credit. I got four credit cards and student loans to help me afford college. Without these things, college would not have been affordable for me as I did not have a wealthy family to pay my way through school. This easy way was a good deal for me at the time - I finished college.

However, even good things can be full of the law of unintended consequences, as well as nefarious planning on the part of credit card companies and recklessness on my part. I quickly found myself having maxed out my four credit cards totaling $12,000 in debt. The credit card companies were only too happy to extend my credit further by increasing their limits, while continually charging me late fees and over limit fees when I was irresponsible and paid my bills late and went over my available credit limit. I was constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul, borrowing from one credit card to pay the fee on another credit card. I was getting soaked. In addition, my student loans, legitimately vital to furthering my education, added to my financial burden when I graduated college and proceeded to graduate school.

When I finished graduate school, I was depressed due to various difficulties and failed to pay my bills in a timely fashion, much less could afford to keep up with my bills. Consequently, numerous negative comments (more than 20!) were placed on my credit reports and I could not even get a checking account, much less pay my bills. I started getting dunning letters and aggressive phone calls from collection companies. Afraid to open my mail or answer my phone, I spiraled into depression and irresponsibility.

I later heard about credit repair books in the bookstores and tried to use their techniques to "clean up my credit report." This only got me into more trouble when I tried to apply the so-called "secret techniques that the collection agencies don't want you to know." Turns out, the collection agencies don't care as they know how to use the law to their advantage to make your life miserable and get the money they want.

I researched and learned all I could on credit repair and restoration. Following the techniques in America, America: How to Avoid the Pitfalls, things finally turned in my direction. I wanted to share my success and arm you with the power to avoid these pitfalls.
